How Creon works
How does Creon help me absorb food?
With Pancreatic Exocrine Insufficiency (PEI), either the pancreas does not produce enough enzymes to breakdown food, the enzymes are blocked from mixing with the food or the enzymes do not become active. Creon can provide the extra enzymes the body needs.
Treatments like Creon are called PERTs – Pancreatic Enzyme Replacement Therapies.
Creon is available in different strengths; 25,000, 10,000 and Creon Micro (5,000). The number refers to how much lipase it contains. You may find that you move to a different strength of Creon depending upon how severe your PEI is.
