How Creon® works

How does Creon® help me absorb food?

When you have Pancreatic Exocrine Insufficiency (PEI), either the pancreas does not produce enough enzymes to break down food, the enzymes are not able to reach the food or the enzymes are not activated/they become deactivated.

Creon® is a type of pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy (PERT).
Creon® can provide the extra enzymes the body needs.

Creon® is available in different strengths; 25,000, 10,000 and Creon® Micro (5,000). The number refers to how much lipase it contains. You may find that you move to a different strength of Creon® depending upon how severe your PEI is.
